Writing can be a pretty boring thing sometimes especially if you found yourself in a roll for a couple of weeks. After that, you seem to realize that you have been doing the same things over and over again including in your blog. This holds true particularly to those who have a singular specific niche they write in. So are you getting bored with writing? Here’s how you bring back your jive.
Break out of the monotony
I you have been writing for quite some time, you might want to take a look at your blog’s archive. Try to read back on all the past entries you have made. Do you see a specific trend? Do you just write simple posts with fancy lists? Do you shy away from technical stuff in favor of giving away general information? Do you not fancy controversial posts? Do you even use pictures or videos on your posts?
It is quite easy to be monotonous and it will really show in your posts. For bloggers who have been writing for a long time. They just feel like blog writing is just another part of their day that they have to finish right away.
But think about it. If you, the author, is not really excited in writing the entries for your blog then what do you think your readers feel? Don’t you think they might be a bit bored too?
Then try something new every week!
Get a calendar and make sure you mark a day per week where you will write “Do something new today!” It could be anything. It could be as simple as changing the way you write your entries or as nifty as recording a podcast instead of the regular entry. If you need more ideas, here’s a simple list to start you up.
- Create a promotion or freebie to connect with your readers.
- Change the design of your blog. (don’t do this often as it will confuse your readers)
- Contact a lucky reader and start a conversation.
- Get another blogger to be your guest for the week. It could be an entry or a recorded Skype interview.
- Join a new social network and tell your readers about it.
Why do it?
Simple. You must always be excited about your blog – Every single day. If you get bored, your readers will smell it and they will get bored too.
Ultimately, even if you are not bored, you really need to mix it up every now and then to provide a different kind of “flavor” to your readers. It’s nice to know that your readers will be excited with every new entry as they have no idea what it will be.
What do you think about? What crazy thing will you do this week?
